Recently, the winners of the 21st China Civil Engineering Zhan Tianyou Award were announced. Two projects constructed by MCC5 and its subsidiaries—the Tianfu Art Park Wenbo Fang Area Development Project and the Fenghuangshan Sports Centre—jointly received six awards.

The China Civil Engineering Zhan Tianyou Award is a national-level engineering science and technology award jointly established in 1999 by the China Civil Engineering Society and the Beijing Zhan Tianyou Civil Engineering Science and Technology Development Foundation. The award focuses on major national strategies and technological innovation. It is regarded as the highest honor for technological innovation in China’s civil engineering sector and is widely known as the “Oscars” of the construction industry. Over the years, the award has played an important role in improving the overall level of engineering construction in China and promoting high-quality development across the industry.

Located in Jinniu District, Chengdu, the Tianfu Art Park Wenbo Fang Area Development Project covers 577 mu, with a total gross floor area of 228,800 square meters. The project incorporates a diverse mix of functions, including art galleries, libraries, museums, commercial streets, and a lakeside park. It is China’s first boundary-free cultural and arts architectural complex developed around the concept of “art close to people and harmony,” featuring a distinctive architectural character that integrates views of Xishan, waterside landscapes, traditional Sichuan-style streets, and lakeside spaces.

Built on a foundation of cultural confidence, the project deeply embraces the concept of the park city and focuses on creating a vibrant urban cultural space. Since opening, it has hosted a wide range of cultural events, including the Chengdu Biennale, helping enhance public cultural engagement and stimulate regional economic vitality. The project has become a model for high-quality development, high-quality living, and efficient urban governance, as well as a representative example of revitalizing existing urban spaces.

The Fenghuangshan Sports Centre, located in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, served as an important competition venue for the 31st FISU World University Games. The project comprises a 60,000-seat professional football stadium, an 18,000-seat multi-purpose gymnasium, landscaped areas, and commercial facilities, with a total gross floor area of approximately 456,000 square meters.

The sports centre is designed not only to host major international and domestic sporting events, but also to support youth football development and a range of functions including sports exchanges, exhibitions and conventions, commercial performances, large-scale variety shows, and tourism.

Looking ahead, MCC5 will continue to increase investment in technological innovation, make breakthroughs in more key and core technologies, and deliver more high-quality landmark projects to higher standards. By contributing to national strategic initiatives, MCC5 will continue to demonstrate the capabilities of a leading state-owned enterprise and support the high-quality development of the construction industry.
